At Evercade, one of my greatest pleasures was exploring the world of retro gaming art—the frustration of discovering how much beautiful box art had been lost to the far corners of the internet, then the borderline obsession of restoring old scans and bringing them back to their former glory. The wonder of pixel perfection and the endless possibilities of integer scaling. And Cadey—a strange little console character I sketched one day in a notebook, who would eventually become an Evercade brand mascot.
